On Tuesday, 11 November 2015, the former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Helmut Schmidt, has passed away. A book of condolence has been laid out in the Meeting Hall of the Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany in Addis Ababa. Those who wish to convey their condolences are kindly invited to sign the book on Friday, 13.11., Monday, 16.11., and Tuesday, 17.11., from 9.30 until 12.30 hrs.

Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier gave the following statement in Berlin on the 10th of November on the death of former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt: “Germany has paused for reflection. The death of Helmut Schmidt fills me with great sorrow. We Germans have lost a father figure. Helmut Schmidt had a profound impact on us and our country. [...]"
