Agricultural investment in Africa is key to ending hunger and poverty on the continent – so is sustainable agriculture. As a vital driver of food security and development, sustainable agriculture must be economically viable, socially supportive and ecologically sound. This is precisely what German agricultural firm Amatheon Agri has embarked upon through its investment in Amatheon Agri Zambia.
The Federal Armed Forces are to participate in the United Nations’ stabilization mission in Mali. The Federal Cabinet took the relevant decision on 5 June, and the German Bundestag has now discussed the planned deployment.
Distance and Desire: Encounters with the African Archive is the culmination of a four-year investigation into African photography and video. Curated by Tamar Garb, it is a four-part exhibition series that explores history and memory in the landscapes of Southern Africa by looking back into the early history of photography on the continent. It will be on display at the Walther Collection in Neu-Ulm from June 8, 2013-May 17, 2015.
