New Ethiopian-German Home Grown PhD Scholarship Programme launched

The Ethiopian Ministry of Education and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) have signed a cooperation agreement on a joint PhD scholarship programme. The agreement shall be in force until 2019. Up to 40 PhD Candidates shall be awarded a scholarship per annual intake.

The German Embassy in Addis Ababa invites for applications for the following job
vacancies:

Security Guard (male)

The full-time position (48 hours per week, Monday - Sunday based on a flexible
shift plan) is available from January 2015.

The closing date for the submission of applications is December 20th, 2014

Change in visa application procedures

From 6 June 2013, the visa section of the Embassy Addis Abeba will be connected to VIS, the data exchange service of the Schengen states.  From this date onwards, all applicants have to present themselves in person at the visa section of the Embassy, unless they were fingerprinted during an earlier applicatino for a Schengen-visa and if that application was lodged no longer than 59 months previously.

More export credit guarantees for Africa

Berlin – The German government has expanded the scope for "Hermes" export credit guarantees for German exports to countries in sub-Saharan Africa. From now on, goods and services for public purchasers in Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Tanzania can be covered by German government export credit guarantees under the "Hermes" programme.

Signing of second financial cooperation agreement between the German and Ugandan government

On December 18, the German and Ugnadan government have signed a second financial cooperation agreement which formalizes the results of the bilateral government negotiations of 2013, where it was decided that Germany will provide Uganda with around 160 million Euro (about 520 billion Uganda Shilling) for various projects within the period of 2013 to 2015.
