Liese Klahn-Albrecht und Thomas Stimmel life in Addis Ababa
German musicians Liese Klahn-Albrecht (piano) and Thomas Stimmel (bass) graced Addis Ababa on 18th and 20th October with two widely recognized concerts.
In addition to their performance in the residence of the German Ambassador, a public concert took place at the Yared School of Music in Addis Ababa, realised in cooperation with the German Cultural Institute. Furthermore, a public general rehearsal was held for the students of the German Church School of the Evangelical congregation of German language in Ethiopia.
The artists were able to capture the attention of all their audience. One foreign diplomat called the concert in the residence “the cultural highlight of the year”.
The seating of the concert at the Yared School of Music actually had to be augmented spontaneously to fit in all interested listeners, proving the exceptional quality of the performance.
The repertoire included musical works from Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Robert Schumann, and H. Leslie Adams.
The artists focused on six works of the composer H. Leslie Adams, based on lyrics of Afro-American poets and bridging the continents of the America and Africa.
The German Embassy is proud to have been able to support the musical trip to Addis Ababa of two such renowned artists.
